NORWOOD BROOK & WINONA HOLLINS-HAUGE
Seattle implemented a desegregation busing plan in 1978. The program lasted over two decades. Opinions on the success of busing varies. WTFlux spoke with Dr. Norwood Brooks, one of Washington state’s first elected black officials. We also spoke with Winona Hollins-Hauge, who was among the first to be a participate in the busing program. They each offered different perspectives on what busing looked like and meant in the African American community.
